Moderators may:
- ask for more information
- suggest further Self Search steps
- approve the request and create a Search
- suggest another route
- decline the Search request
A simple explanation of how Search requests become Searches, how those Searches move through LittleBlueCup and how the community helps.
LittleBlueCup helps people find specific, difficult-to-replace items that matter deeply.
Some items look ordinary. To the person searching for them, they are anything but.
Every Search begins with Self Search where possible.
This gives the person's own community the first chance to help before a Search request is reviewed by LittleBlueCup.
Why Self Search matters:
Self Search is not a punishment or a hoop to jump through. It is the first layer of community searching.
If Self Search does not find the item, or does not find enough of it, the person can submit a Search request for review.
A moderator looks at what has already been tried, how specific and difficult the item is to find, the information provided and which route may fit best.
There is no rigid formula. Human judgement remains central.
After review, an approved Search may become a Featured Search or a Continuing Search, depending on what will be most useful.
For Searches that need wider visibility, careful storytelling and more active promotion.
For Searches that should remain searchable and findable for longer without requiring a major campaign.
Some Searches become Featured Searches.
A Featured Search tells the story behind the item and explains why the exact version matters. This helps people understand what they are looking for, who they are helping and why finding it could make such a difference.
A Featured Search may include one or more of these, depending on what is appropriate for that Search:
Not every Search needs a major campaign. Some become Continuing Searches.
Continuing Searches remain findable on the LittleBlueCup website and may stay active for months or years.
They may still be included in:
Finding one item can be life-changing, but sometimes one is not enough.
One found item can be celebrated without automatically closing the Search.

Photos, clips and stories can help a Search travel further.
A clear photograph may help somebody recognise the exact item.
A written story, short video or voice recording may help people understand why that particular version matters and why a similar replacement may not work.
Show the item, its label, identifying details, damage, wear or other features that may help somebody recognise it.
Help explain how the item is used, what makes it distinctive or why finding it matters.
Families remain in control of what they choose to share. Personal photographs, video and voice recordings are optional.
Read about content and media permissionsOnce a Search has been approved, the public task is simple: help look, share responsibly, offer relevant information or move on.
The Search is not an invitation to audit the person, the family, their parenting, a diagnosis or the reason the item matters.
Not this: “Should this person need this item?”
This: “Can we help?”
Comments that judge, shame, pressure or attack the person or family may be removed. Repeated behaviour may lead to account restrictions.
Read the Community ValuesLittleBlueCup tries to make community searching safer, but no platform can remove every risk.
LittleBlueCup strongly recommends that items are received before payment is sent.
When an item is found, the family may choose to share an update, photograph, video or message.
Each find can be a success. The Search may remain active until enough items have been found or the family chooses to close it.
There is no single fixed path. A Search may move through several of these stages, return to an earlier stage or remain active for a long time.
The person begins by asking their own community to help look.
If more help is needed, they may submit a Search request to LittleBlueCup.
A moderator reviews the information and decides which route may fit.
An approved request may become a Featured Search or Continuing Search.
People look, remember, ask others, share and offer possible matches.
The Search may receive updates, new information, reminders or renewed sharing.
Each find is recorded, while the Search continues if more items are still needed.
A Search may be completed, closed or archived when enough has been found, the family asks to stop or another confirmed reason applies.
LittleBlueCup gives that request a clearer route, and the community helps carry it further.
